Quantum CAD Ltd. meets Health Minister

Jan 18, 2006

Welsh National Assembly Health Minister Dr. Brian Gibbons has visited Quantum CAD Ltd. an innovative electronics development company to discuss the challenges of today's medical electronics industry.

The Minister was keen to hear that Quantum was currently working with Starbridge Systems to develop a new drug infusion system (Starlet Patch), which is a small, easy to use device worn on the body. The device will be smaller, safer and lighter than current devices and will provide a plug and play drug delivery option, suitable for both healthcare professionals and patients.

Quantum Managing Director Steve Jones stated "Our technical challenge was to reduce the size of the circuit board which we achieved using state-of-the-art PCB design software".

Quantum is a specialist in this technology and regards the medical devices industry as an important market for them.

This visit gave Dr. Gibbons a valuable insight into the challenges of the medical electronics sector and said that "Companies like Quantum are filling the gap and stimulating science and industry in the UK."
