Quanta shipped its automobile electronic products to TomTom

The automobile electronic department established by Quanta last year will produce its fruits in the first quarter this year. As informed, Quanta will begin its mass production of its first ever automobile electronic products and will supply to the largest GPS manufacturer in Europe, TomTom. Their first cooperative production line is car used GPS satellite navigation system. Quanta has therefore become one of TomTom's OEM partners like Inventec. As confirmed by Quanta's spokesman that its automobile electronic department will begin mass production and shipment in the first quarter this year, but expressed no comments to its clients and quantity of shipment. Quanta has been investing in automobile electronic for two years, but it did establish a independent business group called Automobile System Business Unit (ASBU) until April last year. It gradually shows Quanta's determination to enter into 4C industry. Automobile electronic has becoming a major market for major local IT manufacturers, such as Foxconn, Quanta, Asus, Compal and BenQ, all desperately wanting to enter into this market by actively developing more automobile electronic products. As informed, Quanta is currently focusing on Car PC, satellite navigation system, car media entertainment within the automobile electronic industry. The car navigation system in cooperation with TomTom has completed its pilot production in the fourth quarter last year and is prepared for mass production in the first quarter this year.
