AUO gets Japanese order and grabs clients from Chi Mei

AU Optronics Corp., (AUO) has got the order from major Japanese companies such as Panasonics, Toshiba and JVC will be competing against Chi Mei Corporation for those Japanese brand LCD TV clients.

The competition between two companies in TV panel will be intensified. Due to the large order received from Siemens, AUO's total production output of medium-small size panel will reach 100 million units. It will make AUO as the only consumer electronics company which has TV and mobile phone as main products. People perceived that lack of order from Japan major TV companies was the problem for AUO.

However, after improving its production skills, quality and price, AUO has attracted Japan companies to release their order in size 20, 26, 32 and 37 inches successfully. Chi Mei used to be proud of its good relationship with Japan companies. However, after AUO got the order from major companies such as Panasonic, Toshiba and JVC, it will share the Japanese order from Chi Mei and also threaten the leading position of Chi Mei in TV panel market.
