Merlin increases test capacity

Jan 25, 2006

UK based Merlin Circuit Technology Ltd. has recently installed two ATG high speed flying probe test systems designed to assist with the increasing throughput of small to medium batches of complex boards containing fine pitch products up to 5mil pads.

The ATG fixtureless test machines can operate at 4,500 tests/min for multilayers.

Malcolm Shields, MD at Merlin said" ATG testers have the shortest test cycles, offer high throughput, have amazing accuracy and, with a long life expectancy, this all made the decision to procure them pretty simple".

Craig Rennie, Cell Leader at Merlin added" With the introduction of the ATG's, we now have five flying probe testers, plus two verification machines, and the test time required to maintain our burgeoning production schedules is now secure".

Merlin Circuit Technology is not only experiencing unprecedented current demand for high-end circuit boards, but is now in a strong position to offer a variety of board finishes to meet the requirements of customers with exempt products as well as those who need to meet the July deadline for lead-free compliance.
