Taiwan MB increased 20% in Q4

With the relief of motherboard SOC in December, AsusTek in positive attitude estimated that even the shipment of December would slide down from November's, the decline was still limited. The 2nd tier MB manufacturers including Biostar, Jetway, and DFI were all accounted for higher shipment in December. The forth quarter would be a prosperous season for Taiwan MB with the increase of 20 percent. SIS chipsets shipment was increased in November along with RC 410 chips of ATi. AsusTek indicated that the SOC in short would be relief. The total shipment of MB in December was still sliding down a little bit. After Intel stepped out from low-end SOC market, MB manufacturers were through a tough time in the shortage. However, SIS increased the production volume in November and ATi was also authorized to adopt RC410 chips to support MB manufacturers. The demand and supply were still imbalanced according from ATi. Even the difference between demand and supply still existed, MB manufacturers with more chip supply were accounted for higher shipment. The shipment of first tier MB manufacturers would grow 5 percent to 10 percent as the same as the second tier MB manufacturers in November. One of the second tier MB manufacturers, Biostar was accounted for 442,000 pieces as MB shipment of November set the highest monthly record. The high-end MB shipment of DFI was also grew 4 percent more than October's.
