AsusTek Digi-home challenged US$1 billion production value

The chairman of Asus Group said Asus would expect a high growth in the first quarter of next year which might be the same as this year. He also mentioned that motherboard, lap-top computer, desk-top computer, and network as major products resembled four US$1 billion categories. Moreover, the Digi-Home products would be the fifth US$1 billion industry. Asus has been developed Digi-Home products for a long time. With the debut of the first LCD TV from Asus, the chairman of Asus Group indicated the global LCD TV market would be dynamic and competitive next year. Under the high-quality concern, Asus postponed the launch of 32 inch LCD TV to December originally in August. Asus 32 inch LCD TV was priced at NT$62,800 which was higher than the same model of SONY which was priced at NT$59,900. Asus set the sales goal of 32 inch LCD TV at 800 units each month in Taiwan. When the 32 inch LCD TV was the first product for Asus to enter the Digi-Home market, it was adopted Sharp LCD panel and the next product would be 42 inch LCD TV. Asus LCD TV was marketed as self own branded and also planed to work as an ODM partner in the future. Currently, the main stream panel size was 32 inch; therefore, Asus differentiated the product in creativity. As a leading motherboard manufacturer, Asus shared three major product lines including motherboard, lap-top computer, and desk-top computer with over US$1 billion product value respectively. After the completion of merging Askey, Asus became the biggest cable modem and ADSL modem manufacturer in the world which was also the forth US$1 billion category for Asus. In the future, Asus would be equipped more competitiveness in Digi-Home realm.
