SMTA International 2005 declared a success
Nov 07, 2005
The SMTA International annual conference was held on September 25-29 in the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, and attracted its audience by fulfilling the association's mission of "building skills, sharing practical experience, and developing solutions in electronic assembly technologies and related business operations". In addition to the technical sessions and tutorials, which were exceptionally strong, well attended, and highly interactive, the special events during SMTAI were very successful. In particular, the Opening Session, which focused on RoHS Compliance and Lead-free Issues, was very well attended, and also popular was the returning symposium on Lead-free. At the annual meeting, everyone was pleased to recognize the recipients of the SMTA Awards, Hutchins Grant, and Chapter of the Year Awards, and they were excited to hear the Keynote Address, "The Heat is On: The Impact of Temperature on Hybrid and Compliant Assemblies", by Dan Shea, CTO, Celestica, Inc.
