MYDATA to showcase 01005 handling at Productronica

Nov 16, 2005

At Productronica, MYDATA Automation AB will demonstrate the high-speed placement of 01005 components, which are barely visible to the human eye.

Thanks to unique innovations, like the latest version of the Agilis 3.7 feeder and new high-precision tools, MYDATA placement machines can handle even these tiny 01005 chips at high speed.

"Components will only continue to get smaller in the future," says MYDATA Product Manager Fredrik Moberg, "01005 passive component technology are soon becoming the norm, since they allow board producers to increase board density and enhance electrical performance. As a company that specializes in machines that can do it all, we have to be on top of this trend. Our customers will demand it."

The new Agilis feeder features a type of support spring for the tape, geometrical changes and a stabilizer to better hold components in position. This not only ensures reliable feeding of 01005 chips, it also simultaneously reduces mis-pick rates for 0201 and 0402 size chips.

MYDATA hinted at this technology at the APEX trade show earlier this year, when they demonstrated the high-speed placement of 0210s. "When people saw us demonstrating the placement of 0210s with the multi-headed HYDRA, they were very enthusiastic," says Brian Duffey, President of MYDATA USA. "They immediately saw the potential of mounting the 01005s at significantly higher speeds."

MYDATA has also developed two new high-precision nozzles for the Midas and Hydra mountheads, to handle these microscopic packages.
