Viasystems & Hop-on announce Volume manufacturing and low-cost component sourcing agreement for China production
Hop-On (OTC: HPON) announced that Viasystems will manufacture 61,000 Hop-On CDMA 800 MHz disposable/recyclable cell phones. The order is the initial phase of a volume manufacturing and low-cost component sourcing agreement between the two companies for production in China. Hop-On is the leading developer of disposable and fully recyclable cell phones.
Peter Michaels, Chairman and CEO of Hop-On, commented, "We now have an EMS partner with a first-rate global network and telecommunications specialization. Viasystems gives us the knowledgeable volume manufacturing strength we need given the indicated demands for our disposable cell phone. This will enable us to benefit greatly from lower-cost component sourcing, faster production and higher yields. We remain focused on building a much larger telecommunications company and we now have the strategic partners in place necessary for our long-term success."
"We are excited to have the opportunity to leverage our capabilities and advantageous cost position to help Hop-On meet the anticipated ramp in volume levels and gain a competitive advantage globally," said David M. Sindelar, CEO of Viasystems Group, Inc.
