SMTC announces new Chair of the Board

The board of directors of SMTC Corporation announces the appointment of Mr. Wayne McLeod as non-executive Chair of the Board. Mr. McLeod brings extensive board and general management experience to SMTC. Previously he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of CCL Industries from 1980 to 1999. Currently, Mr. McLeod is a member of the board of directors of Morguard Corp., Turbo Genset Inc., Richards Packaging Inc. and Atlas Cold Storage. He also serves on the boards of the Canadian Utility Council and the Institute of Corporate Directors. "We are delighted to have Wayne as our new board Chair", stated John Caldwell, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Earlier in the year we committed to separating the roles of Chair of the Board and Chief Executive Officer as part of SMTC's commitment to follow governance best practices."
