BenQ EPS down to NT$0.32 in 1H
Sep 01, 2005
BenQ reported that it posted after-tax EPS (earnings per share) of NT$0.32 for the first half of this year, down from NT$2.44 it recorded during the same period last year. The company also saw its after-tax profits decline 87% on-year to NT$784 million in the January-June period. BenQ reported that it recorded operating losses of NT$1.15 billion in the first half, but investment income gained through the sale of shares it held in other companies helped it write off those losses. The company's handset shipments, which dropped 10% sequentially to 800,000 units in the second quarter, are expected to start picking up in the third quarter as the company begins selling handsets under the Siemens-brand, in addition to its own-brand models, according to company sources. BenQ plans to introduce as many as 30 handsets into the global market in 2006, including five to six 3G handsets, the sources noted. source: DigiTimes
