ECA order index rises for second consecutive month
Sep 12, 2005
The monthly order index compiled by the Electronic Components, Assemblies & Materials Association (ECA) rose in August for the second consecutive month. The rise reflects what ECA president Bob Willis calls "modest optimism" in the manufacturing sector; an optimism that could be threatened by recent events. "Manufacturers built up confidence during the first half of the year that was reflected in the positive jump in July and steady progress in August," says Bob Willis, ECA president. "The electronic components market will be under closer scrutiny, however, in light of confusion within the energy market and the unknown economic impact of Hurricane Katrina."
