Sep 20, 2005
Calumet Electronics Corp. (CEC) has been approved as a qualified HUBZone (Historically Under-Utilized Business Zone) small business concern effective September 6, 2005. CEC is now listed as a qualified HUBZone small business concern on the Small Business Administration web site at http://www.sba.gov/hubzone The HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program stimulates economic development and creates jobs in urban and rural communities by providing Federal contracting preferences to small businesses. Preferences go to small businesses that obtain HUBZone certification in part by employing staff who live in a HUBZone. The company must also maintain a "principal office" in one of these specially designated areas. The HUBZone approval is under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code 334412 Bare Printed Circuit Board Manufacturing. By attaining approval from the U.S. Small Business Administration, CEC will be better positioned to meet the needs of its customers and to provide circuit board solutions as an alternative to off-shore sourcing. "We anticipate a growing demand for finished goods manufactured in the USA" said CEC's National Sales Manager, Stephen J. Marshall. "CEC is positioning itself to help meet that demand".
