In-demand capabilities added for testing leading-edge, integrated RF SOCs
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) announced that Amkor Technology Inc. (Nasdaq:AMKR) has purchased a 93000 RF system for the company's contract test location in Singapore. Amkor is using the system to test RF tuners for cable and satellite televisions and to test mobile phone RF applications.
"We are seeing increased interest and demand from our customers for Agilent's 93000 RF system test capabilities, including its proven performance and cost-efficient testing of complex, integrated RF devices," said Gary Waterhouse, senior vice president of corporate development, Amkor. "Our strategic investment in the 93000 platform and RF system will be key to our continued growth and success in Singapore."
"The lowest cost-of-test is the key requirement for RFICs and RF-SOCs," said Pascal Ronde, vice president of Agilent's Automated Test Group. "The low-noise performance of the Agilent 93000 RF Measurement Suite is critical to making highly accurate RF measurements in less time. We are happy to have Amkor lead the way with the 93000 as the next generation of RF test system in the SCM market."
The 93000 RF system is a high-performance, cost-effective RF SOC test solution for all RF devices and for all wireless applications, including cellular, Bluetooth®, WLAN, GPS and cordless. Because of the 93000 scalable platform architecture, the system can be upgraded to meet rapidly changing requirements of the integrated RF SOC test environment. The Amkor configuration includes 12 multiplexed RF ports and the Audio/Video 8 analog digitizers for quad-site RF testing. Agilent also provided support expertise that enabled Amkor to get its systems running and in full production very quickly.
