iSuppli CEO to keynote system-on-chip conference
Aug 03, 2005
Over the past few years, the foundations of the global semiconductor business have been ripped up and laid down again, altering the structure of the industry. Because of this, many of the principles, strategies and rules of thumb developed by successful semiconductor companies over the past 30 years no longer apply-and can't yield the same kind of success they did previously. What are the new realities of the semiconductor industry and what must wireless chip companies do to survive and thrive in this radically-changed environment? Derek Lidow, president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of iSuppli Corp. will provide insights into this and many other compelling questions when he delivers the opening keynote address at the 3rd International System-on-Chip (ISoC) Conference, which will be held Nov. 1 and 2, 2005 in Newport Beach, Calif. Lidow's keynote at the ISoC conference will be entitled New Realities Mandate Fundamental Changes in Competitive Strategies and will be delivered on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 8:15 a.m. In his keynote, Lidow will examine the factors reshaping the electronics supply chain, including the rise of China as an industry superpower, the deceleration in long-term semiconductor revenue growth and the expanding influence of contract manufacturers. Lidow will offer practical advice to wireless semiconductor companies attempting to manage these changes. The overall theme of the ISoC Conference, which will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Newport Beach, will be SoCs in wireless applications. Other speakers at the two-day event will include Farhad Mafie, president and CEO of Savant Co. Inc.; Jauher Zaidi, CEO of Palmchip Corp. and Peter Lee, president and CEO of Aplus Flash Technology Inc. Sponsored by Savant, the ISoC Conference is an annual event that brings together chip experts to discuss the latest developments in semiconductor technology and business, ASIC cores, SoC design tools and other topics.
